Gifts for Him – Think Gift Baskets
Wednesday, December 30th, 2009 | Author:

Trying to decide what gift to give one of the men in your life? I have been perplexed by this question myself a time or two. I’ve spent countless hours shopping from store to store trying to foster gift ideas. Hoping that just the right something will fall off the shelf and hit me in the head. It never does, and I usually come home with nothing. Frustrated by the time wasted, and my inability to put my finger on what would make him happy. Then it occurred to me: Why not send him a gift basket? It’s a surprise, it’s fun to get a delivery, I can find one to suit his interests and my budget. Most importantly, I don’t give myself headache thinking about it, and I can do it all online. I can customize my message and know for certain that I have given him something I have selected just for him.

Once I started looking at gift baskets, I realized the only work I had to do was think about what he likes or doesn’t like. I found baskets for the golfer that included a golf towel, tees, score card, smoked sausage and many other snacks. I loved the Greg Norman Estates Shiraz wine and cheese gift basket. I have serious coffee drinkers in my family, and I found gourmet gift baskets with multiple coffees, coffee mixes, gourmet biscotti etc. and it came packaged in a “French Roasted” gift box and café ribbon. The point is don’t stress. Baskets come in many different price points, there is a wide selection, and it can be delivered just as you dictate. Relax and know you have selected something great.

Thursday, December 17th, 2009 | Author:

This holiday make yoga part of your gift giving. A lightweight yoga bag is one such holiday gift that will be put to good use. Let’s face it. How many times do you get a holiday gift and the first thing that pops into your head are the thoughts of fast returns? I am not trying to say you are ungrateful, but it’s just the nature of holiday times. So if you want to give a gift of fitness this holiday season make a mat bag that gift. Most likely you’re giving the mat bag to someone you know who will put it to good use. Quality yoga bags are not only functional but many are so stylish. Bags are perfect to take on vacations or just to the local yoga studio. Bags protect your mat and with some bags even your other personal accessories. more…

Is There a “Best” Whole House Filter?
Tuesday, October 20th, 2009 | Author:

Nowadays shopping for the best whole house filter isn’t as hard as it may seem as the internet is providing us with lots of information. So times it seems as if we get too much.  But after several days of doing research on this,  in my opinion I think for our needs we settled a whole house water filter made by Sun Water Systems of Texas. The model is called the Aquasana Rhino EQ-300 whole house filter. Our main objective was to get the chlorine out of the water.  We did a casual test. We went down to Lowe’s and purchased a spa and pool chlorine test kit. Brought it home and tested our water for pH and chlorine levels. Well the pH was fine, but the chlorine level was through the roof. It actually was more than the recommended level for a pool. more…

Swirled Green Frog Earrings are Eye-catching!
Friday, October 16th, 2009 | Author:

I love that the artist called these handmade earrings “swirled green frog earrings”. Doesn’t it just describe them perfectly? I have no idea how they got that effect, but it is a beautiful one. I am all about great colors and patterns of colors. And, to be honest, I really like frogs as well. So this was a no-brainer for me. They are just a little larger than most of my frog earrings, but that way they’ll be noticed more. And they are so inexpensive that I can easily justify getting them just for myself. I deserve them! more…

Polarized Sunglasses for the Outdoors Enthusiast
Wednesday, October 14th, 2009 | Author:

Polarized sunglasses are an absolute must for the outdoor enthusiast.  This especially is true for those who enjoy boating, fishing, and other activities where glare could potentially become problematic.  When sunglasses have polarized lenses, they can help in reducing the glare off of water and other reflective surfaces that can be blinding.  Most sunglasses in today’s day and age are polarized, however it is important to make the distinction.  Run of the mill tinted glasses will not be able to help in these cases, so getting the proper lenses is very beneficial. more…

What Does a Golf Nut do When the Leaves Turn Gold?
Friday, October 09th, 2009 | Author:

Where I live, the leaves are turning colors and by this weekend we may even have our first snow. When I think about the fall, I can’t help but think about how this year’s golf season is coming to an end. Now don’t get me wrong, I like late fall and the beginning of winter. The cold isn’t that cold, I can sometimes get a round in here and there, and I truly love the Holiday season.

When it comes to Christmas, I tend to go over to The Golf Collection for a selection of their golf gift ideas to get for my golfing buddies. Better yet, for my buds who don’t play golf, they have a wide selection of gifts for men that really rocks. Whether it’s engraved beer mugs, pub signs or executive or business office gifts, I know I can find something that they will like and I can afford.

Of course, eventually the holidays will end and I’m stuck wishing that Spring will somehow com absurdly early this year. Unlikely, I know but it doesn’t stop me.

Maintenance Free Plastic Shed
Thursday, October 08th, 2009 | Author:

Last year we took down a wooden shed we built about eight years ago out behind my parent’s house that was infested with termites. I had done some research on different types of out buildings and we decided that a plastic shed would be the best thing to replace it with since there is very little maintenance and upkeep that has to be done with this type of shed. It’s important to make my folks life as easy and functional as possible as they age and this definitely fits the bill. more…

Take Steps With A Balance Pods Workouts
Friday, August 28th, 2009 | Author:

Balance pods that look like small colorful igloos may be misleading to those who see them merely as kid’s toys. Yet once you experience using these pods you soon will realize that these are not for kids. Although they may think otherwise, balance pods work with just about anyone that puts two feet forward. But what is it that something so small, and knobby to the touch that makes people actually step on seem so beneficial? The answer is as simple as keeping ones balance. more…

The Perfect 12 Inch Saute Pan
Wednesday, August 19th, 2009 | Author:

This weekend, for the first time in along time, I attempted to make homemade tomato sauce from fresh tomatoes. While I love cooking, I usually just buy some of my favorite canned marinara sauce when I making a pasta dinner. The sauce is very tasty and has the natural ingredients my family prefers. But recently a friend of ours had more ripe tomatoes from her garden then she knew what to do with. So she gave me a big batch and I decided to try and make my own sauce with them. Unfortunately my skillet wasn’t as deep as I would have like and I had to make it in two batches so it didn’t spill over onto the stove. I really could have used a skillet like this Rachael Ray Porcelain Enamel 12 Inch Saute Pan. more…

This gorgeous group of precious metal reminders would not only be unique gift to give someone you love, but a way for them to think of you every time they fasten on their silver bracelet. Silver charms can represent everything from a trip to France to a favorite puppy or bird. I prefer animal-themed charms, but I think it’s fun to mix it up a little and put some another type of sterling silver charm or two on a pretty bracelet. more…

Individual Meals in a Small Clay Baker
Friday, April 17th, 2009 | Author:

My sister loves her Romertopf clay bakers. She has a few of them actually. One is extra large, I think they call it the maxi baker and it’s big enough to hold a seventeen pound turkey at the holidays. She also has a large baker she uses quite frequently for roasts, stews, soups and other meals throughout the year. Plus she has some of their neat small bakers like the apple baker and the banana baker. I always enjoy her cooking and I guess I dropped enough hints about her cookware because she bought me my own Romertopf Small Clay Baker for my last birthday. more…

I Can Set My Bird Baths Out in the Yard
Wednesday, April 08th, 2009 | Author:

I realized this morning that spring is finally making its appearance – and why not it’s almost April! Aside from the snow melting, which is the first of the don’t miss indicators, I realized this morning when I was lying in bed listening to the birds that I was actually able to hear them because the bedroom window stayed open for the whole night. It’s so nice to be able to sleep without breathing nothing more than stale, dry, heated, recycled air. Even though I have quite a few new chores added to the list with the changing of the season, I really don’t mind because one of the first will be to go into the garage and haul out my Aqua Colored Ceramic Bird bath. more…
