Candles make ideal wedding favors for all types of weddings
Tuesday, December 30th, 2008 | Author: admin

Candle wedding favors are inexpensive, useful, and romantic – three key elements to consider when choosing favors for your wedding. There are many types of candles to choose from – from inexpensive taper candles tied with a ribbon to themed candles in beautiful holders. Whatever your budget, candles make an ideal wedding favor.

For those on a budget (or as secondary inexpensive wedding favors if you are especially generous), purchase long taper candles in your wedding colors from your local discount store. Then print a page of tags with your choice of words. “Thank you for coming to our wedding!” with the date and couple’s name is a good choice for the tags, but you can be more creative if you prefer. Cut out the tags with a fancy edged scissors, punch a hole in the end, and use a ribbon to tie them on to each taper. You can also tie tiny bells or fabric flowers for an elegant yet inexpensive touch. For a larger budget, consider a themed candle like those shown on eyecandygift.com. You can give candles shaped like wedding cakes, cups of coffee, roses, or gift boxes. You can also give tea light holders shaped like sailboats, crowns, or sand castles. Whatever you choose, candle wedding favors are sure to be used and enjoyed by your guests!

Goji Berries and Weight Loss
Wednesday, December 10th, 2008 | Author: admin

One of the key factors to successful weight loss is satisfying the appetite without triggering a craving to overeat. On a scientific scale, the glycemic index (GI) of a food indicates its role in digestion — the lower the GI of a food, the more slowly it converts to blood sugar. Thus, the less likely it is to stimulate uncontrollable urges to eat empty calories. How to goji berries compare to other foods? The goji berry’s GI is 29. Apples are rated at 28, oranges at 42, and cantaloupe at 65. Watermelon is a heaping 72. Of standard health fruits, only the banana compares at a GI of 25. Aside from its low GI rating, goji berries can control appetite and high blood sugar by virtue of its fiber content; goji berries are 21 percent fiber by weight. more…

Tapestry Wall Art, The Kiss
Monday, December 08th, 2008 | Author: admin

Born in Austria in 1862, Gustav Klimt was among the most important artists of the Austrian Art Nouveau movement. The Kiss (1907-1908) is possibly his best-known work. It was painted during his Golden Phase, a period during which his works were distinguished by the prominent use of gold-leaf. It is thought that the famous mosaics of Venice and Ravenna inspired this technique. The original hangs in the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere in Vienna but you can own The Kiss Tapestry as a woven art work. As in the original masterpiece, Tapestry Art, The Kiss depicts a couple poised together on a flowered slope. As they share a kiss, their selves appear to merge. Mirroring Klimt’s gold-leaf technique, the tapestry has been embellished with golden threads. more…

Some Beagle Jewelry to Make You Smile
Monday, December 01st, 2008 | Author: admin

I’ve always loved beagles. Maybe it’s their musical baying voice (some might disagree with me here) or their endearingly floppy ears. But this unique beagle jewelry I tripped over online kept me on the Magic Zoo site for quite a while recently. Maybe what attracted me the most was the general feel of the pieces- they had a unified look which isn’t surprising since all the pendants, earrings and charms on this site are made by the same artist! Quite a feat in itself. more…

Countertop Water Filters are Quite an Advantage
Tuesday, November 04th, 2008 | Author: admin

Like many people, you might spend hundreds of dollars a year on bottled water.  Not only is bottled water expensive, but it is also wasteful toward the environment.  Sometimes it doesn’t even taste good or comes from regular municipal water supplies!  That means that you’re wasting your hard-earned money on ordinary tap water!  I’ve discovered that the best solution to this expensive problem is to purchase a convenient Aquasana countertop water filter. more…

Kitchen Utensil Holder for Everyday Organization
Monday, October 20th, 2008 | Author: admin

Kitchen organization requires a fine balance. I am the sort of cook who likes the utensils I use daily within easy reach. After all, I don’t want to be fumbling for a silicone spatula while my risotto burns! However, I’m also not a big fan of everything “out,” such as the current trend of having utensils hanging on a sort of curtain rod or up on pegboard in he kitchen. I think it looks great at first, but after about three meals it is a mess unless you can devote time to its constant upkeep. That’s why a kitchen utensil holder are a good compromise between accessibility and neatly “put away” organization. more…

The round patch of Byakuya Kuchikiis made in blue, white and green and features a stern-looking Byakuya, all dressed up in his Shinigami uniform. As Captain of the 6th Division in the Gotei 13, the women Soul Reapers find Captain Kuchiki very attractive and even irresistible, maybe because he is the 28th head noble and wears a scarf that cost more to make than ten houses would cost. Of course, women are known to like the strong silent type and the Captain seems to be very serene, even in the midst of battle. more…

I live in an apartment with limited space but I still like to enjoy my own freshly grown fruits, vegetables and herbs. I decided to try a mini greenhouse so I could plant everything in one spot on my balcony. Choosing Carpet for your Stairs and Halls
Saturday, September 06th, 2008 | Author: admin

Carpeting on the stairs serves a variety of purposes. The most obvious is it’s decorative value, adding color and elegance to what is often the first impression your visitors will have of your home. It also helps to keep noise to a minimum since the sound of shoes marching up bare wooden steps tends to echo throughout the house. Carpet for stairs serves to dampen the sound whilst providing comfort under foot. It’s final, and perhaps, most important function is to increase grip and thus, safety by helping to prevent slipping and falling. This will only be achieved of course with the correct installation. Specialist padding will also help.

Painting inside an old home
Sunday, August 17th, 2008 | Author: admin

Old homes are a painting challenge because of the potential need for plaster repair. Drywall mud can be sculpted to the contours of an old ceiling or wall, but it should be laid on a little at a time so it doesn’t shrink too much when it dries. It doesn’t have to be perfectly smooth when you finish putting on the mud. You can always sand it off. You must prime your repairs before painting.

Another painting challenge in an old home is old wallpaper. This all needs to be scraped off. There are gadgets that can be used to score the wallpaper so a solution of vinegar and water can soak in, but really the only thing that removes five layers of wall paper covering the original 80 year old layer is elbow grease.

Competitive Gaming
Monday, July 28th, 2008 | Author: admin

Some people would argue that competitive gaming is the new wave of “Sports”. Even though gaming isn’t considered a sport, it is becoming a world-wide phenomenon. Thanks to the help of the Internet.

In my personal opinon, Halo ( C/E , 2, and 3) is my game of choice. It is a non-stop, first person shooter based game where you try to eliminate your opponent or work as a team to complete an objective. In 2002, Halo was adopted by what is now known as MLG.

Major League Gaming is one of North America’s biggest professional videogame leagues. MLG operates a multi-city live pro circuit, held in major venues across North America. MLG also broadcasts various competitions on national television and on the internet. It operates an online community and hosts online gaming tournaments on its website. MLG was founded in 2002 by Sundance DiGiovanni and Mike Sepso and its headquarters are located in New York City.

Some day my commrades and I will enter one of these profound MLG tournaments to claim our awaited victory!
